The Study Mauritius Office, a one-stop-shop for tertiary education, was launched in February 2011. The Office, which operates under the aegis of the Ministry of Tertiary Education, Science, Research and Technology, is in line with the Government’s endeavour to make of Mauritius a regional hub for tertiary education.
Study Mauritius, which links up with local tertiary education institutions, local recruiting agents, and local embassies to coordinate information on available programmes, has as purpose to better guide both local and international students in their choice. The Office is considered to be instrumental in putting Mauritius on the world higher education map by assisting in destination branding and building a regional reputation.
With such measures to boost the tertiary education sector in Mauritius, an increase in international student numbers up to 100,000 by 2025 is forecasted.

The Government of Mauritius offers scholarships at undergraduate level to African students. Applicants must be resident citizens of member states of the African Union or of Commonwealth African countries.
This initiative is part of the Government of Mauritius commitment to promote capacity-building at various levels across the African continent through its strong belief that Higher Education is one of the key elements of growth and social development. This is all in line with the Government of Mauritius respect and upholding of Goal 4 of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a target of which is to substantially expand globally the number of scholarships available to developing countries by 2020.
